Abstract

The researcher conducted the current study on a sample of the Egyptian public in addition to another sample of communicators in Egyptian satellite and television channels, and the study sought to identify the role played by Al-Jazeera news channel and social networking sites (Facebook-Twitter) in the industry and crisis management.
The attitudes of the respondents about the patterns of conflict employed by Al-Jazeera in its management of the events of that crisis came as follows: It presented treatments accusing the Egyptian president of betrayal and squandering the homeland, and it presented non-neutral opinions about the president’s abandonment of the two islands, and it hosted some human rights activists who have hostile tendencies to Egypt. And, videos were shown showing that Egypt is a repressive state that uses violence with demonstrators refusing to transfer the islands
Likewise, the respondents ’attitudes were negative regarding the patterns of conflict employed by Facebook in managing the events of the" Tiran and Sanafir Islands "crisis, to be consistent with the theses of Facebook, as it employed the fateful conflict pattern in covering those events.
