Abstract

Based on the two theories of media richness and technological determinism, the research problem is designed to monitor the attitudes of Arab youth towards the impact of new media on supporting intellectual security. The study applied a random sample of 600 individuals of new media users from some Arab Gulf countries “UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain” as a model for Arab youth. The researcher used the survey method through designing an electronic questionnaire.
The researcher recommended paying attention to the seriousness of the influence of the new media through doing more research and working on activating the role of new media in promoting areas of intellectual security. In addition to the need to establish an interactive media system dedicated to supporting concepts of intellectual security.
The study concluded with several results; the most important of which include the high rate of Arab youth using the Internet. Hence, it was found that 94% of the total sample use the Internet daily. Moreover, the new media that youth use as a source of information varied, as the electronic newspapers ranked first with 93.66%, followed by social networks with 91.84 %.
