The use of podcast journalism in newsrooms of press institutions in light of the digital environment

Abstract

The study problem aimed to monitor the reasons for the use of podcasts by press institutions in publishing journalistic content, what is the nature of podcast templates, sources, language used, advantages and disadvantages, and to identify methods of employing podcasts in journalistic institutions, and the challenges faced by those who contact audio content makers in publishing content in press institutions under study and revealing future visions To introduce the podcast in the press institutions.
The current study belongs to descriptive studies to monitor facts about the phenomenon of applying podcasts and their use in journalistic institutions. This study also belongs to the field of descriptive studies as well as future ones to provide proposals and perceptions about the future of podcasting in journalistic institutions and its impact. The study relied on the descriptive survey method, and used the standardized interview guide. It was applied to an intentional sample with a total of 20 items, with (7 items) in the Masrawy podcast, (6 items) in the Consulto podcast, (4 items) in the Al-Masry Al-Youm podcast, and (3 items) in the Al-Fanar Media podcast.
The most important results of the study:
)1) More than half of the study sample, represented by the podcasts of "Concelto", "Al-Masry Al-Youm" and "Al-Fanar Media", confirmed that the dialogue format was the most used, while the sample of the "Masrawy" podcast confirmed that the narrative-documentary template was the most used.
(2) The nature of the content broadcast on the podcast differed in the press institutions under study. The most published social and historical content came in the “Masrawy” podcast, while the medical content came in the “Consulto” podcast. As for the sports content, it came in the “Al-Masry Al-Youm” podcast, while the educational content came in the “Al-Masry Al-Youm” podcast. Al-Fanar Media.
(3) The methods of employing podcasts in journalistic work differed in the press institutions under study. The conversion of journalistic stories “features” published on the site into audio came at the forefront of the recruitment methods in the “Masrawy” podcast, while converting journalistic content into audio came to develop the form of contemporary journalism in line with interests. As for the use of the podcast as citizen journalism in presenting and discussing topics and humanizing news in the "Al-Fanar Media" podcast.
(4)The study sample of the podcast makers under study expected the introduction of the podcast application in the press institutions towards a significant development of podcasts in the coming years and the emergence of new styles of journalistic arts that suit the listeners.
