Abstract

News websites are an important source of news and information for the Egyptian audience, especially with regard to the Egypt's strategy to achieve sustainable development, which cannot be achieved without empowering youth politically, socially and economically. The Egyptian state has attached great importance to youth empowerment issues and has taken measures and launched strong initiatives to empower Youth in various economic and social development fields. Therefore, this study aims to know the role of news websites in shaping public attitudes towards youth empowerment in the light of sustainable development goals. The study hypothesized that there is a statistically significant correlation between public dependence on news websites and their attitudes towards youth empowerment in the light of the sustainable development goals, This study belongs to descriptive studies, and was applied to a simple intentional sample of 430 individuals was selected from the Egyptian public who use news websites, The questionnaire as a tool for data collection, and the study found that there is a statistically significant correlation between the rate of public dependence on news websites and their role in shaping their attitudes towards youth empowerment in light of the sustainable development goals. The study also showed that the most achieved dimensions of political empowerment from the public’s point of view are preparing and training youth to assume the tasks of political, executive and administrative work in the state, supporting youth participation in elections, and supporting youth participation in political parties and trade unions, while the most economic dimensions achieved from the public’s point of view are credit facilities. And loans for small youth projects, and youth involvement in the various development projects implemented by the state.
