The role of social media in spreading the culture of panic and coping associated with the Corona pandemic

Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of social media in spreading the culture of panic and coping associated with the Corona pandemic within the framework of the theory of the spread of rumors in social networks. Anxiety and fear as a degree of panic and their relationship to exposure to the means of communication from the beginning of the spread of the crisis until the stage of adaptation, and the work of a measure of coping and coexistence with the pandemic to identify forms of coping, whether psychological, medical or cultural supposed to the means of communication from its dissemination and dealing within its framework. The study sample consisted of a random sample of From the general public consisting of 200 individuals, male and female, who were exposed to the news of the crisis through social media through the various stages of the spread of the crisis, their ages ranged from 18-60 years
The study concluded that the percentage of female representation in the study sample is greater than that of male representation. The researcher attributed this to the social considerations that govern the conditions of the status of women in Egyptian society, as she believes that the subject under study is related to the study of the phenomena of fear, anxiety and panic associated with the Corona virus, and by virtue
of the nature of women in general, they are the most affected. And interest and participation, especially with regard to her health and the health of her family, which makes these issues of more interest to her than men.
