Abstract

The study aimed to measure the relationship between selective exposure to sports content on television channels and websites and the level of Egyptian youth sports culture. The study depended on the Exemplification theory. It used a field survey method by applying a questionnaire on a purposive sample of 600 respondents who varied in terms of their demographic characteristics.
The study concluded with the high level of sports culture for Egyptian youth (with its cognitive, health, educational and social dimensions, respectively). Their exposure to sports content was highly selective, as they exposed to specialized sports channels and sports programs broadcast on public channels. Their use of sports websites was high, whether through the site itself or its pages and accounts on social media. The results also revealed the significance of the correlation between the level of sports culture for Egyptian youth on the one hand and the variables of selective exposure, the intensity of exposure to specialized sports channels, sports programs on public TV channels, and to sports websites, and the degree of interest in sports on the other hand.
