“Measuring Digital literacy skills of mass communication students in Egyptian universities during the online learning process through covid-19 pandemic

Abstract


 
Since covid -19 pandemic so many changeable actions had been taken in different fields of life, especially the educational systems all over the world as most of the educational organizations turned to the online platforms to complete the educational process applying the social distance.
So it was important to investigate whether the students inside the Egyptian universities and mass communication programs know and acquire the digital literacy skills to cope with the new learning system as they mainly depend on the social media and digital platforms to receive and send information related to their courses.
This research applied an online questionnaire on 650 sample of mass communication students in the Egyptian governmental and private universities and found that the majority of the sample see the online learning in Egypt is good and can be repeated but after giving training courses for both students and professors , also it found that not all the media and mass communication courses are convenient to the online learning style especially the radio and television production courses and graduation projects , finally majority of the students acquired a medium degree of the digital literacy skills (knowledgeable, professional ,communicative ) and in some cases it needs further training.
