Abstract

This research paper aims to analyze the discourse of the world press regarding the referendum crisis for the secession of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq
The research relied on the descriptive and interpretative analysis of the discourse, as well as the adoption of some discourse analysis tools represented in the analysis of the theses, the effective opinions, the reference frameworks for the discourse and the paths of proof.
The most prominent results and features of this speech can be indicated in the following points:
- The speech revealed the diversity of the theses that formed approaches to the crisis, which indicates his interest in the aspects of covering the crisis and its approach from different directions, so the nature of his approach to the crisis can be indicated by focusing on the historical, political and social contexts from which he launched his theses.
-With regard to the active forces, the President of the Kurdistan Region came as the most active force on which the speech focused on due to its main role in the crisis, and the speech perceptions about it were generally positive, with (73) roles, of which (69) were positive, and (4) were negative only
