Abstract

The main question that this study aims to answer is: What are the most important communicative effects of social networks on intellectual security in society as seen by the Saudi elites?
The study found that the communication effects of the Saudi elites, as a result of exposure to the intellectual security issues presented by social networks, were primarily social interaction, with an arithmetic mean of (2.81), followed by realism with an average of (2.57), and finally satisfaction with an average of (2.52). The study also demonstrated a significant relationship between the motives of the Saudi elites' use (purposeful - ritual) of the various social networks, and their level of intellectual security. The study proved that there is no significant relationship between the communicative effects (realism - satisfaction) resulting from exposure of the Saudi elites to various social networks, and their level of intellectual security, in contrast to establishing the relationship between the effects of social interaction and their level of intellectual security.
