Abstract

The problem of quantitative versus qualitative design continued to be clearly present in the scientific heritage of the current study, and the debate continued between researchers in the Arab and foreign schools related to new communication technologies. The results of the analysis confirm what previous Arab studies have shown regarding the predominance of qualitative designs over foreign studies, in contrast to Arab researchers’ reliance on the quantitative approach and not employing the qualitative approach except in a limited range. On the other hand, many foreign studies and some Arab studies have systematic designs that combine the two approaches. Quantitative and qualitative. The current study indicates that the majority of the analyzed studies did not contribute to developing public relations theory. It is logical that the Western school raises this issue, given that the theoretical frameworks in the field are mostly Western and American production. As for the Arab school, we did not pause much on this issue despite our observation that modern theoretical frameworks were not produced and that the studies sample analysis was based on traditional frameworks or frameworks that were developed without real scientific addition. The current study found an extension of the research trend of dialogue communication studies, through studies that test how to activate dialogue public relations and employ dialogue between the organization and interest groups to support "democracy of communication" through modern media.
