Abstract

The research problem is determined in monitoring and measuring the motives of social media networking sites’ usage on the Internet among university students, the gratifications achieved and their reflection on their behavior, and the positive benefits and negative effects of this usage. The importance of the study is represented in the following points:
1-The paucity of the studies in the field of new media and thus this study came to specialize, in one of the new media topics, which is the ways in which young people use social media.
2- Adolescents and youth are the group that uses the most social networks, which reflects the great importance of knowing the impact of social media on youth.
3- Identifying the negative effects of social media and their impact on young people, whether moral or religious.
