Abstract

the current study sought, in its main objective, to measure the relationship between the exposure of a sample of the Egyptian public to investigative programs in satellite channels and the level of knowledge of some societal issues that are adopted by that type of program.
The main results:
- The percentage of the Egyptian public with high exposure to investigative television programs was 23% of the total items of the study sample, while the percentage of the audience with medium exposure to television investigative investigation programs was 62.8
Arab channels did not know this investigative pattern systematically except in the last years of the current century, and to the extent of the margin of freedom available in each country.
The most important television investigative program presented by the Arab satellite channels from the Egyptian public’s point of view was the “Top Secret” program, with a rate of 65.8%, and the “Last Talk” program came in second place with a rate of 57.3%.
-13.5% of the Egyptian public depends on television investigative reporting programs for knowledge of societal issues to a large degree, while the average accreditation rate is 44.2%, and the low accreditation percentage came 42.3% of the total items of the study sample.
The most important societal issues that television investigative reporting programs focus on, from the viewpoint of the public, came in first place (corruption of officials) with a rate of 51.8%, and in second place came (the spread of the drug phenomenon in Egyptian society) with a rate of 48.8%, and in third place came (Community Security and Terrorism) with a rate of 47.8%.
