The relationship between exposure to new media and youth awareness of Egyptian political security issues

Abstract

The problem of the study is determined in identifying the relationship between exposure to new media and the Egyptian youth's awareness of political security issues in Egypt.
General results of the field study:
- Egyptian youth in the study sample prefer to use social networking sites among the new media to learn about various news and information about Egyptian political security issues and discuss different opinions through them, as it became clear to us that Facebook is ranked first with 46% of its various pages.
As for the Egyptian political security issues, we find that they included foreign issues, which is the issue of "foreign policy and the president’s performance with different countries." It came in first place with 30%, and in second place, "Sinai as an entry point for development and combating terrorism" with 29.5%, and in third place comes the issue of the two islands. (Tiran and Sanafir) by 21.5%.
Emotional effects came in third place, fear of the development of political events in Egypt and its impact on the Middle East region by 18%, and sympathy for opinions and events came in fourth place by 15.1%. By 18.4%, and in fifth place came that the new media explained the political issues at hand and provided information about them by 14.9%
