Abstract

This study is concerned with researching the role of the Egyptian media in raising the level of public awareness about the various ethnic groups in Egypt by discussing their issues and problems. In addition to measuring the impact of this media coverage on the sense of belonging to Egypt by ethnic groups. It is generally assumed that the positive or negative stereotypes of ethnic groups presented by the media are an influential component in the development of positive or negative stereotypes about these groups among the audience.
The importance of this study stems from several points of view, as follows:
- The scarcity of studies that dealt with the image of ethnic groups in the media in general, and in the Arab domain, in particular.
- The interest in the effective media role that members of ethnic groups consider. This can be seen in addressing their issues and promoting their belonging to society through media outlets.
- The importance of ethnic groups within society, as it is considered a factor of diversity and enrichment. However, it may become a threat to the stability of society if it is not contained adequately.
