Abstract

The research problem is represented in the levels of perception and awareness of the communicators in the Jordanian electronic news press of legal rules in general, and the Cybercrime Law, in particular. Moreover, the study aimed to identify their attitude and evaluation of the Cybercrime Law and its impact on professional media practice.
The study population consisted of employees in the electronic news sites registered with the Media Authority (licensed according to Jordanian legislation and laws). The sample consisted of the first twenty sites on the (Alexa) ranking list, as a tool for gathering information.
The main results of the study:
- The Cybercrime Law has a practical development effect on the media industry. Its provisions prohibit the dissemination of misleading information affecting the public interest. However, some of its chapters restrict the freedom of opinion.

- The absence of statistically significant differences attributed to the demographic factors of the respondents in relation to their perception and evaluation of legal acts in the law and their impact on professional performance.
