Abstract

Considering the situation in Syria and the transformation of its land into a battlefield between international and regional powers, and in light of the importance of political communication as an important tool in attracting public opinion and influencing it, the study sought to identify the news coverage framing of the topic. The issue is highlighted through the tripartite military attack that the United States partially led with France and Britain on April 14, 2018, against Syria. This was done by analysing the quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the news bulletins of two Arabic-language TV networks; the American Alhurra and the Russia Today channels directed by the Russian Federation.
The study also analyses the comments of the audience of the two channels on YouTube regarding the videos published about this topic by applying quantitative and qualitative content analysis. This was an attempt to find out the special nature of the users of these two channels. In addition to analysing their attitudes towards the crisis, and whether those attitudes reflected in the public comments differ according to the nature and background of the two channels.
