The role of digital media in promoting sustainable development strategies to achieve competitive advantages

Abstract

The mass media in general - and digital media in particular - play important and influential roles in the lives of individuals and societies in the modern era. Since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents a vital part of the global economy that is moving rapidly on the path of transformation to a knowledge-based economy, it has been keen to keep pace with the rapid global developments in the areas of globalization. So, it is planning to integrate into the international market, and continuing development and reform programs to enhance the growth process in the country across various fields.
And based on the functional roles that digital media can play, it has the ability to spread information and different opinions among its users about various development issues. These roles raise questions like how the digital media can support and spread the concepts and use techniques related to sustainable development strategies among its users? And how can it enhance these strategies? According to these questions, this study attempts to present a model for the relationship between the media factor, represented by digital media, and its role in promoting sustainable development strategies for sustainable cities and communities.
