The repercussions of health crises on the professional performance of Egyptian journalists working remotely: The coronavirus pandemic as a model

Abstract

The research problem was to monitor, characterize, analyze and explain the impact of health crises on the performance of Egyptian journalists in paper and electronic newspapers during the coronavirus pandemic for a sample of 200 Egyptian journalists, who worked remotely during the pandemic, using the social responsibility theory, to determine their commitment to social responsibility during the crisis And if the work environment and the pressures surrounding them under the pandemic have an impact on their commitment to their professional roles towards the public, using the survey curriculum, and the questionnaire tool.
The study found several important findings, most notably that Egyptian journalists  who have been working remotely during the coronavirus pandemic have improved their performance by 35%. While the performance of 33.5% was unaffected, 31.5% declined. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on performance has changed the mechanisms for handling and selecting journalistic topics. Journalists sought to provide content commensurate with the prevailing health crisis by providing follow-up to daily events and tracking and validating social media posts, Then pay attention to what the audience (Trend) is looking for, relying on the assignment of the head of the department, and finally the fieldwork.
