Abstract
This study aims to explore the role of Egyptian and foreign films in shaping Egyptian youth's awareness of alien hand syndrome, and the extent to which the image presented in these films correlates with scientific facts. It also seeks to understand the role of the media in shaping public perception of this syndrome. The study relied on a survey method based on media framing theory. It was applied to a sample of Egyptian youth to monitor their opinions and perceptions of how the syndrome is portrayed in films. The results showed that a large percentage of the sample (68.6%) are interested in learning more about such diseases, while 10.8% are not interested in this area. 20.6% reported having partial knowledge. The study also indicated that the media ranked first as the primary source of information, with 57.2% of respondents citing it as a source of information, followed by learning from the experiences of others, with 25%. Reading research and studies, with 15.3%, followed by resorting to other sources, with 2.2%. In the end, the results showed that 62.5% had no prior knowledge of the syndrome, while 37.5% did. There was a correlation between the sample's assumptions in terms of their preference for watching Egyptian films at 51.1%, followed by foreign films at 48.9%.
