Abstract

This study aimed to monitor and analyze global trends in self-regulation of the use of artificial intelligence applications in journalistic work, leading to the presentation of a proposed vision for a guiding principles document that could contribute to controlling and regulating the use of artificial intelligence within Egyptian and Arab newsrooms in light of the experiences of international media institutions.
The researcher monitored and analyzed the guidelines and rules for regulating artificial intelligence and its applications issued by (36) media and journalistic institutions and bodies in more than 20 countries. The study concluded that these guidelines and rules included a set of standards and guidelines that regulate the use of artificial intelligence applications in journalistic practice within the newsroom, ensuring the safe use of digital technology related to the journalistic production process within newsrooms. The researcher presented a proposed vision for a guidelines document in the form of an editorial charter that includes the standards and rules that can contribute to regulating the use of artificial intelligence applications within newsrooms in Egyptian and Arab newspapers and websites, guided by the experiences of international media institutions in this regard.
