Abstract

The current study seeks to monitor and analyze the trends of the Egyptian public towards the role of artificial intelligence algorithms related to managing Facebook posts in blocking content during crises, applying it to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip 2023 (Al-Aqsa Flood Movement). The study is one of the descriptive studies that relied on the survey method through a field study that was applied to a sample of the Egyptian public consisting of 400 individuals from the residents of Cairo Governorate. The study reached several results, including:

The study found that 56.8% of the respondents are dissatisfied with the way social media sites deal with managing posts related to the repercussions of the Israeli war on Gaza 2023, while 23.3% are somewhat satisfied, while the percentage of complete satisfaction with managing posts related to the Israeli war on Gaza reached 20%.
The methods used by artificial intelligence algorithms to control posts related to the Israeli war and its repercussions on the Palestinian people vary from the point of view of the respondents, where the most prominent of these were blocking posts, suspending accounts, and reducing the rate of content reaching followers.
There is a statistically significant correlation between the intensity of the respondents' follow-up of the repercussions of Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa 2023 on their attitudes towards the impact of algorithms in managing posts related to it.
There is a statistically significant correlation between the intensity of the audience's follow-up of the study sample to posts related to Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa 2023 on social media and the extent of their interaction with them.
