Evaluating the Usability and Accessibility of Egyptian News Sites

Abstract

The current study aimed to evaluate the usability and accessibility of Egyptian news websites and identify the problems that affect the usability and affect accessibility to news content for people with disabilities through automated evaluation, by applying it to the websites of Youm 7, Al-Masry Al-Youm, and Sada elbalad. The study concluded that the three sites studied failed to evaluate basic web vitality indicators, and the loading times of the sites were very high. News sites also need to improve their site design to comply with WCAG guidelines, to provide easier access to people with disabilities and regular users alike
