Abstract

Jordanian television channels, including Roya and Al-Mamlaka, and their digital platforms via social media, pay extensive attention to Jordanian societal issues, particularly economic ones. Consequently, the study problem is to determine the style and nature of news coverage of Jordanian economic issues on Roya and Al-Mamlaka channels. The study employed the news framing theory and analyzed the evening news on Roya and the 6 PM news on Al-Mamlaka. The study found that the issue of "rising fuel prices" ranked first among the economic issues presented in the news broadcasts, with 15.7% of the total sample. This was followed by "increasing water bill prices" with 10.9%, "trade exchange" with 9.4%, " boosting tourism activity " with 8.9%, "providing job opportunities for Syrian refugees" with 7.3%, and "digital economy protection and financial transactions" and "encouraging investment" both at 6.3%. Next was "property ownership law" at 5.2%, followed by "increasing agricultural production and supporting farmers" at 4.7%, and finally "rising industrial product prices" at 4.2% of the total sample.
