The role of social media influencers In enhancing the response to climate change issues in Egypt

Abstract

With the growth in the use of social media networks, users’ interests have shifted to engaging in activities of sharing information and news. Indeed, these influencers have become of great importance and sometimes enjoy tremendous trust among the audience who follow them, which has made them confident in what they offer and convinced of their opinions and viewpoints regarding events, situations and issues Which is different, the aim of this study To evaluate the role played by social media influencers in enhancing the response to climate change issues, by examining the characteristics of this role, determining its size, and investigating the impact it has on the target audience.
Type of study: This study is a descriptive and analytical study.
Study methodology: This study relies on the survey method.
Study sample: Five Egyptian social media influencers who addressed climate change issues and one hundred of those who interacted with these influencers’ posts related to climate change.
One of the most important results was that climate change topics do not take up a significant portion of social influencers. There were few topics for them in general throughout the study period, as they were linked to rising temperatures or the climate conference on social media sites. The media treatment of climate change issues differed according to the professionalism of the social influencer of the topics.
