Factors affecting the performance of communicators in the field of scientific and environmental media: A study in light of the challenges of professional and societal pressures.

Abstract

The objectives of the current study are to monitor the psychological and professional pressures faced by communicators in the field of scientific and environmental journalism, to identify the vision of the communicator in the field of scientific and environmental journalism...etc. towards the obstacles and future of this specialty and proposals for its development. Identifying the vision of academics (those responsible for teaching scientific and environmental journalism courses...etc.) towards the obstacles and future of this specialty and proposals for its development. In addition, the study aims at monitoring the experiences of some journalists in the field of environmental media on the social networking site (Facebook). The study also relies on a survey approach by surveying the study sample and conducting a survey of the study population, as well as by applying a questionnaire, in addition to conducting an in-depth interviews
The tools that the study utilize are the questionnaire tool and the in-depth interview. As for the most prominent results, the results of the current study emphasize the importance of the role that social networking sites play in reaching the public and training and qualifying journalists to use the tools and advantages provided by social networking sites in order to reach the public, make scientific and environmental issues conveyed to the public simple and interesting issues, with any eye on reaching a larger audience and make them enjoy reading these issues, such as the introduction of new methods of writing, like “narration” and “story” in order to reach the audience effectively.
