Visual framing of the image of Palestinian suffering during the events of the war on Gaza in the Arab and international electronic press

Abstract

The study seeks to identify the significance of framing the image of Palestinian suffering during the Al-Aqsa flood crisis in newspapers by examining the method of Arab and international electronic newspapers employing images of Palestinian suffering, interpreting the signs and connotations of the images used, and highlighting the connotations and hidden meanings of the press image accompanying the coverage of the news sites under study by analyzing the message. Iconic, formal and connotative, by relying on the survey approach and applying the content analysis tool by employing the frame analysis tool and the semiological analysis tool, in the time period between October 7, 2023 to the Al-Aqsa Truce on November 24, 2023.
The study concluded that the current study focused on monitoring and analyzing the significance of framing the image of the suffering of the Palestinian people during the Al-Aqsa flood crisis on the websites of international and Arab newspapers, where it was concluded that the graphic humanitarian frames that were relied upon represented the martyrdom of children and the demolition and destruction of homes. The Arab electronic newspapers website focused on media coverage. The picture depicts negative media frames such as sadness, crying, loss, brokenness, and death, while the international electronic newspapers’ website is diverse in terms of employing negative and positive frames represented by the marches in support of the Palestinian people
