Abstract

The study of the image has received great attention from researchers in the fields of media because of the important role it contributes to shaping society. Many media studies have tried to answer an important question: how does the media shape images of different groups in society? However, none of these studies dealt with the image of people with special needs, so this study seeks to monitor and analyze the media image presented to people with special needs in television drama.
The research problem is determined in the study of how the image of people with special needs is presented in television drama, because of the huge potential of this medium that is an important source for the development of public awareness, which contributes to setting positive values and removing misconceptions from society about the topics that address them.
The study reached a set of results, including that the status of people with special needs family in television drama is unclear, and exaggerated rise in the negative features of people with needs, lack of integration of people with special needs in society, lack of awareness of drama writers of the problems of people with special needs, and that the television drama did not reflect the reality of people with special needs correctly or objectively.
