The Role of Television Drama in Country Reputation Management

Abstract

               The current study is based on the social identity theory to show the direct and indirect effects of the role of television in reputation management; Therefore, the comparative correlational approach was employed, and the questionnaire was relied upon as a tool to collect data from a sample of (382) television dramas (South Korean, television). The sculpture showed that television had played a positive role in its viewers' perceptions of the countries under study, It was also found that viewers of TV dramas, whether South Korean or Turkish, are regular in what they are exposed to with a "medium" temporal intensity. Some direct and indirect sources were formed in the current study, including TV drama. The reputation of the countries among the study sample, and in a related context, the results indicated a high level for evaluating TV drama viewers of the reputation of countries, whether South Korean or Turkish However, the ranking of the factors that make up the reputation differed for the two countries according to the general attitudes adopted by TV drama viewers towards those countries, and it was also proven that the South Korean TV drama has a direct impact on the management of The support of the Korean state, in contrast, the Turkish drama did not have a significant impact on managing the reputation of the Turkish state, either. Responses from viewers and non-watchers of the TV drama revealed a “high” level of ethnic concentration for both.
