The digital media of the League of Arab States as an interactive medium compared to other regional organizations

Abstract

This study attempted to monitor and analyze the digital media of the League of Arab States as a regional organization, through its official website and the social networks it employs, and Comparing this with other regional organizations, namely the African Union and the Association of Southeast Asia, known as ASEAN, The study aimed to monitor the most prominent interactive tools on these sites, and to reveal the performance of the social networks that employ them in terms of their types, publishing intensity, the issues, the most prominent multimedia, and the forms of public interaction with them.
The study belongs to descriptive studies that rely on a case study of digital media in the League of Arab States. The study was also based on Media Richness Theory, and the media survey approach and the comparative method. and relied on the content analysis sheet to collect data. The researcher also prepared a scale to monitor forms of audience interaction on the Facebook network. The study was applied on three official websites, which are the official website of the League of Arab States, the official website of the African Union, and the official website of the Association of Southeast Asia. The study sample consisted of (300) publications that were published on the Facebook network of the three organizations within two months. Among the results of the study: that there is a somewhat similarity regarding the availability of interactive tools achieved after multiple options for the user between the official website of the League of Arab States and other sites (subject of study) With the lack of the Arab League site of important tools such as multilingualism and advanced search engines. In terms of employing social networks, however, there is a large gap in terms of the number of followers of social networks, in which the number of followers of social networks of the League of Arab States comes in the last rank and in much smaller numbers compared to the other two organizations. The study also found that the three organizations are similar in terms of the priority of the issues raised. In favor of social issues, as well as being careful to avoid dealing with issues of non-member states.
