Abstract

The study sought to monitor the degree of agreement or variance in the level of psychological hardness among Egyptian journalists, according to the different ownerships of their press institutions, in the face of the psychological pressures caused by the Covid 19 virus, and to monitor the level of intensity of the different psychological pressures on journalists during that period, in addition to monitoring the degree of agreement or variance between journalists in their motivation for achievement and their self-efficacy, and to identify the relationship between psychological hardness, psychological stress, achievement motivation and self-efficacy during the period of the Covid 19 virus. From June 2020 to September 2020, the study found:
1-The (behavioral dimension) came in the first order with an arithmetic average of (2.4650), followed by the (cognitive dimension) with an arithmetic mean of (2.4600), and in the third order came the (professional dimension) with an arithmetic mean of (2.0700), as stated in the fourth order ( The social dimension) with a mean of (2.0650), and in the fifth place came the (emotional dimension) with a mean of (1.7800) .
2- The results showed (commitment dimension) within the dimensions of the psychological toughness of journalists during the Covid-19 virus crisis in the first order, followed by the second order (after the challenge) and then in the third order (the control dimension).
3- The (feeling of responsibility dimension) came in the first rank among the dimensions of achievement motivation among journalists during the Covid 19 virus crisis, followed by the (perseverance dimension) in the second rank, then in the third rank (the social motives dimension), and in the fourth rank (the goal setting dimension), This indicates that journalists have a sense of responsibility towards citizens and the state by spreading awareness, spreading facts and information about the virus to spread reassurance and security without regard to other considerations such as infection, stress or fear.
4- The study concluded that the hypothesis was partially fulfilled and it says: There are statistically significant differences between the variables (experience, age, gender, previous exposure to accidents, loss of a colleague during the Covid 19 virus, marital status, ownership of the institution) and psychological hardness, for journalists during the Covid 19 virus crisis, where The hypothesis was fulfilled for the age variable, but it was not fulfilled for the variables of experience, gender, exposure to accidents previously, loss of a colleague, marital status, ownership of the institution).
