Abstract

The study aimed to achieve a main objective: Interpreting the strategies of cultural communication between Egypt and Spain in the discourse of the Egyptian and Spanish cultural press issued in Arabic, during the study period (from January 2020 to December 2022); In order to explore the mechanisms used by the study papers, and the factors and variables influencing the production of this discourse, the study relied on the cultural analysis approach.
The results of the study concluded that the theses of the discourse of the Egyptian and Spanish cultural press - the subject of the study - regarding the cultural contact between Egypt and Spain were dominated by the character of the historical discourse derived from the nostalgia of historical events as a result of nostalgia for the Islamic civilization in Andalusia, which lasted 8 centuries; It is therefore an integral part of Spanish identity and self-esteem.
The newspaper discourse - the subject of a study - relied on five main mechanisms when dealing with the cultural contact between Egypt and Spain, namely: the mechanism of cultural rapprochement, the Egyptian-Spanish partnership mechanism, and the mechanism of common interests, to emphasize the common Islamic and Arab identity between Egypt and Spain, which resulted in deep cultural contacts. As well as readiness to develop, expand and deepen the successful cooperation between the two countries.
