Abstract

The study examines how Arab youth use social freelance platforms, from the category of freelancers in creative fields (montage, voiceover, and visual effects) with societal resilience during the emerging Covid-19 crisis, and the impact of use on the production of various media materials. The study provides a comprehensive view of the skills needed by the freelance labor market through freelance platforms, especially after the Covid-19 crisis, which prompted Arab youth to activate "societal resilience". The study was applied to a sample of young freelancers from the Arab world, consisting of 342 respondents, using the electronic questionnaire tool through one of the groups designated for Arab freelancers in the creative media fields, such as; voiceover, montage and visual effects on Facebook, with the application of a new model for crisis management and societal resilience. The results of the study indicated that Upwork is still at the forefront of freelance platforms, and that the main reasons that prompted workers in creative industries to move towards freelance platforms during the Covid-19 virus crisis were; The spread of unemployment and the search for improving skills to engage more in the digital labor market, in addition to achieving continuity of work and profit. The results also indicated that the production process of the media materials themselves was affected, as it became disjointed and used skills and experiences away from academic expertise.
