Abstract

The study aims to identify the features of the perceived reality of the Egyptian television drama's treatment of personal status issues among the audience, and does the dramatic treatment constitute the features of the perceived reality of the audience or not? To achieve this goal, the study relied, in its theoretical framework, on the entrance to reality perceived by the media, with its three dimensions: magical window, utility, and autism. It is a descriptive study and used the survey method in both its analytical and field parts. Through an electronic questionnaire form, as for the sample of the analytical study, it was a deliberate sample of Egyptian tele-drama works that dealt with personal status issues in the month of Ramadan 1443 AH / 2022 AD and identified its most important general features, The most important results of the study were that the Faten Amal Harbi series occupied the highest percentage of viewership for the TV dramas that were shown, and the issue of child custody occupied the highest percentage of the most prominent personal status issues that were dealt with by the dramas, and the trend towards dealing with the drama of personal status issues was influenced by the concern to expose them more. From the extent of exposure, there were also statistically significant differences for all dimensions of perceived reality according to the extent of care and according to the social status in favor of the widower, while there were no differences for all dimensions of perceived reality according to personal experience, gender, or social and economic level, And there was a positive effect of the three variables combined, namely (the extent of exposure to personal status drama on television, the extent of keenness to follow it, and the attitude towards treatment) on the dependent variable (the characteristics of perceived reality)
