The extent of the aggressiveness of digital platforms coverage of sporting events and its relationship to university youth's attitudes towards soccer fanaticism

Abstract

The current study belongs to descriptive studies, depending on the descriptive analytical approach, using a questionnaire form on a sample of (450) individuals. The study has reached several results, including:
1- The emergence of the influence of media coverage on the respondents in aspects related to sports teams in the first place, with their tendency to reject restrictions on sports coverage, in view of the importance of the media role, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation held a press conference on the transgressions of the sports media on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.2- The general trend of the respondents tends to reject placing restrictions on sports coverage, even if this would achieve prevention of hostile coverage, and reduce football fanaticism.3- The view of the majority to publish the website of their favorite team with biased content, which is a hostile view.
4-The respondents emphasized the importance of the responsible authorities, and the role of the media in raising awareness to address football fanaticism, which is consistent with the respondents' attitudes towards the relationship between fanaticism and sports coverage, where the positive trends were absent.
5-There is a correlation between the intensity of exposure to sports contents, and attitudes towards sports coverage according to demographic variables.
6-There are significant differences between the intensity of exposure of the study sample to the sports contents according to the demographic variables represented by gender in favor of males, and the economic and social level in favor of middle-level students.
7-There is a direct correlation between the motives follow-up to the sporting contents, and attitudes towards (the hostility of sports coverage/soccer fanaticism).
8-There is a direct correlation between the attitudes towards soccer fanaticism and attitudes towards coverage hostility.
9-There are significant differences between the motives of exposure of the study sample to the sports contents according to the demographic variables represented by gender in favor of males, while there are no statistically significant differences according to the socio-economic level.
10-There are significant differences between the attitudes towards sports coverage, as well as between the motives of exposure to sports contents according to gender, while there are no statistically significant differences according to the socio-economic level.
11-There are significant differences between the attitudes towards football fanaticism, according to gender, and the socio-economic level in favor of low-income people.
