Disability issues in the Jordan's official media

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the disability issues dealt with by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), as one of the official media institutions, and the linguistic vocabulary that was used when presenting disability issues, and the adjectives and designations that were given to them, which were published in the agency during the study period, from (01/01 2022). ) to (10/01/2022), and the number reached (125) subjects, related to disability.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers used the survey method, based on the method of content analysis, and the study reached a number of results, most notably:
That (93.6%) of the agency's newsletter depends on the press release style in dealing with disability issues.
2- The mixed category ranked first with a rate of (48%).
3- The study revealed that (20%) of the negative labels published in media outlets that carry characteristics that carry negative attitudes for people with disabilities.
5- The pastoral approach still occupies a large percentage (28%), and the human rights approach ranks first in dealing with disability issues.
