Abstract

Recent Scientific Trends of Research in Editing Electronic Newspapers
The study aims to identify the most important recent research trends in editing electronic newspapers, and to survey academic studies that have tackled the research field of editing Arab and foreign electronic newspapers.
This study is based on the comparative analytical descriptive methodology, which depends on the qualitative analysis of data in the field of electronic newspapers editing. The researcher depends on the available sample of studies and research published in scientific journals (during the period from 2016 AD to 2020). The analysis covers 122 studies, including 84 Foreign studies and 38 Arab ones.
The results of the analytical study revealed the interest of Arab studies in research trends that revolve around electronic journalistic editing methods, and in the use of multimedia accompanying press texts and mobile journalism. In contrast, the foreign research and studies, especially European studies followed by American ones, revealed interest in mechanisms of employing artificial intelligence techniques, virtual and augmented reality technologies and immersive photography in newsrooms. These studies focus on the way by which they can transform this huge amount of data flowing from multiple sources into news stories supported by data, images, videos, graphics, and static and animated illustrations, which enable them to attract the attention of the reader, and increase the level of understanding and enhancing the memory the audience with the journalistic content
