The frames of foreign and Arab newspapers coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian war

Abstract

The study sought to determine the frames of press coverage of the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war in a sample of foreign and Arab newspapers. The Washington Times, the Russian newspaper Trud Труд, the Egyptian Al-Ahram portal, and the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh), and the results indicated:

The patterns of journalistic templates used in covering the Russian-Ukrainian war were varied, as the news came in the first place with a percentage of 69.6%, followed by the press report with 24.9%, then press articles with 5.5%.
Military and security frames came at the top of frames used in covering the Russian-Ukrainian war with a percentage of 30.6%, followed by political frameworks by 28.6%, then humanitarian frameworks by 15.9%, followed by economic frameworks by 14.6%.
The results indicated the predominance of logical solicitations used in covering the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war by 55.2% of the total sample, while emotional solicitations amounted to 44.3%.
Russia came at the forefront of the active forces in the Russian war in foreign and Arab newspaper websites, with a percentage of 28.2%, while Ukraine came in second place among the active forces with a percentage of 18.4%, then the United States of America with 14.4% of the total sample.
