Abstract

This study aimed to know the Jordanian women's attitudes towards watching satellite channels specialized in cooking in the city of Irbid in northern Jordan, in the context of determining their effectiveness in influencing them. Where the researchers used the theory of uses and gratifications as one of the media theories to achieve the objectives of the study. Descriptive studies using a questionnaire tool on a sample of 400 females in the city of Irbid in northern Jordan. The study reached several results, the most prominent of which are:
The study showed that the majority of the respondents, members of the sample, watch TV programs specialized in cooking to a moderate degree “sometimes”, as the nature of this viewing was done individually and at a rate of less than an hour, and their preference for watching these programs on specialized satellite channels exceeded that of public satellite channels. different food) came at the forefront of the sample’s motives for using these programs and in light of that gratification associated with it, and from the side of trends, the results confirmed that these programs would develop a love of knowledge among the sample members, followed by their eagerness to present everything new, and the cognitive effects came at the forefront of the effects Verified by observation, followed by emotional and behavioral, and it was found that the general average of these effects was average.
