Media education and how to apply it to the contents of Jordanian news sites in light of the growth of digital media

Abstract

The study aims to demonstrate the application of media education to the contents of Jordanian news sites and to demonstrate the use of media education contents in Jordanian news sites in light of the growth of digital media and to demonstrate the advantages of applying media education in Jordanian universities from the students’ point of view and to indicate the areas of application of media education in Jordanian universities from the students’ point of view.
The study population consisted of Jordanian university students, and the tool was distributed to a sample of (650 ) students high studies in universities.
The study showed that there is a medium degree of approval of the fields of application of media education in Jordanian universities from the point of view of students in general, where the average total responses reached (3.37). Where the average of the total answers was (3.29), as it was found through the results of the analysis that news websites as one of the media education fields contribute weakly to increasing students’ knowledge of national events, and this can be explained by the fact that news websites represent a routine activity in universities and do not comply with the requirements of media education.
The study indicated that there is a medium degree of approval of the field of application of electronic journalism in general, where the average total responses reached (3.47), which indicates the weakness of the field of electronic journalism as one of the areas of media education.
The study concluded that there is a medium degree of approval on the level of employment of media education contents in Jordanian news sites in light of the growth of digital media, and a medium degree of approval among university presidents on the field of application of media education in universities to meet the civilizational challenges facing students. In light of the results of the study, it is It recommends introducing the concepts of media and information education in the form of study units in the national and social education textbooks for the seventh and eighth grades in schools in the public and private sectors.
