The role of media education in raising awareness of the danger of rumors

Abstract

Media literacy constitutes a newly established scientific field, and a vital path of intersection between the various critical trends within the fields of education and media at the same time, and from the depth of this intersection; Media literacy takes a scientific path characterized by a critical nature in its various educational orientations and practices, as it derives its energy from scientific and intellectual sources of different sciences, diverse in their specializations, and multiple in their tools, curricula and concepts. Within this path of interaction and interaction with these sciences, the theoretical features of Media literacy are drawn, and its dimensions are determined Intellectual property that distinguishes it as an interdisciplinary science characterized by originality, distinction and privacy.
This study came to achieve a clear and focused goal, which is to identify the awareness role played by Media literacy in facing the danger of rumors among Jordanian youth. The problem of the study crystallized as to whether Media literacy has a role in facing the danger of rumors from the perspective of Jordanian university youth. The Jordanian questionnaire consists of (200) vocabulary, and the electronic questionnaire tool was relied upon as a tool for collecting data from the sample under study. The study proved that Media literacy plays the role required of it in confronting rumors, its objective treatment of rumors, and realizing its role in revealing the motives of rumor promoters. It also proved that there is no relationship between the nature of education, income and the role of Media literacy in achieving the desired goals.
