Abstract

The importance of this research comes in that it discusses the role played by social Media among the various media, old or new, as they - Social Media - shed light on the role they play and the most prominent effects they create in shaping the public's attitudes towards the phenomenon of Cyber terrorism.
This study falls within the descriptive research, in which the researcher relied on the survey method, using the web questionnaire, to obtain the results of the study through a deliberate sample of social network users consisting of (400) individuals, using the Media Dependency Theory, The study found:
1-A rate of 87.8% stated that they follow social networking sites because they are characterized by the sincerity of their information, while 84% of the study sample explained that they follow them because they discuss important issues in society freely, and came in last place because they give me an idea of ​​everything that is happening in the world And because it provides live coverage from the event site by 79.8%.
2-The interaction feature came at the forefront of the reasons for which the Egyptian public follows up on the events of electronic terrorism through social networks with a percentage of 94.1%, while it came in second place because it covers all events 88%, and in the last place it came because it is characterized by boldness in presenting the news with a percentage of 86.5%.
3-Attitudes adopted by the Egyptian public, the study sample on the phenomenon of electronic terrorism through social networks, where it was stated in the forefront that one of the main reasons for the phenomenon of electronic terrorism is the large number of problems in society, with a rate of 93.8%, while it came in second place that electronic terrorism has an impact on adolescent youth who Exposure to such matters affects it by 87.7%, while in the last of these situations, unemployment is considered one of the most important motives that lead to the occurrence of the phenomenon of electronic terrorism by 85.8%.
