The role of TV drama in security awareness of crime

Abstract

This study aimed to clarify the role of television drama in security awareness of crime, by analyzing a model from the Syrian drama of crime presentation, and monitoring its presentation of the motives of crime, the forms of its occurrence, methods of detection, and the sentences issued against criminals. To achieve these goals, the study followed the descriptive approach, in the manner of content analysis. Through the analysis tool (content analysis form), it was built as an initial stage before starting the monitoring and analysis process, for a sample of the drama series that dealt with this type of dramatic content (police drama), and a comprehensive analysis was conducted for all episodes of the Wajh al-Adala series.
The study concluded with a number of results, the most important of which are: the motive to reach the woman, as well as the motive to reach the man are among the most important motives that cause some crimes, and the role of the perverted environment that encourages the occurrence of multiple crimes. And that the proportion of males more than the proportion of females in committing crimes, and that the age group that committed the most crimes ranged between (20-39 years), and greed for money was one of the most economic motives for crime, and then came poverty and unemployment, and that revenge is the most important psychological motive for committing crime. And that most of the tools that are used in crime are sharp tools such as knives and others, and that sensory effects are the most common methods of detecting crimes, and that the death penalty is one of the most punishments that have been carried out on criminals, then imprisonment for a period and then hard labor.
