The role of organizational communication in crisis management from the point of view of public relations practitioners in governmental public administrations in the State of Kuwait

Abstract

This study aims to measure the role of organizational communication as a part of crisis communications from the perspective of public relations practitioners in the public sector in Kuwait. The study uses a quantitative survey method for its explication of this study. A questionnaire consisting of (36) items was adopted and modified, then classified under three main categories. A sample of (N = 128) public relations practitioners in the Kuwaiti public sector. The results showed that the respondents' estimates of organizational communication during the crisis were significantly low, along with the low application of organizational communication. Findings also provide significant low estimations of the importance of organizational communication during a crisis. Further, the study provides recommendations and suggestions to improve public relations practitioners' organizational communication rules during a crisis.
