The Egyptian public’s evaluation of the role of the official political institutions of the Egyptian state in confronting political rumors through social networking sites “Facebook and Twitter”:

Abstract

This study aimed to monitor" the extent of social media users interacting with political rumors circulating on them, The extent of the awareness and critical capabilities of the Egyptian public in dealing with rumors, and their evaluation of the efforts made by official institutions in the country in responding to and confronting these rumors, "In the framework of the researcher's endeavor to achieve this goal, the researcher raised several questions revolving around: the concept and sources of political rumors in Egypt from the viewpoint of the Public Opinion, and the public opinion 'evaluation of the efforts made by official institutions in the country in the face of rumors. The researcher employed the theory of the spread of rumors as a theoretical framework for evaluating monetary capabilities. The respondents have in dealing with rumors that they are exposed to through social media according to their cognitive and social background, in addition to the theory of social responsibility to know the extent of responsibility of social media users towards society when dealing with rumors and interest in research and not spreading confusion without being sure, or there is chaos in Dealing with the freedom available through social media without any responsibility, The study used the survey method in its field section by relying on the sample survey method, where a questionnaire form was designed and applied to a sample of 400 respondents from users of social media sites to identify their behavior and their response to the rumors they are exposed to on social media.
The results of the study showed that the concept of rumor is linked to a large degree among respondents with the concept of' source of news. "When the source of the news is unknown or unreliable, it represents a rum or among 71% of the respondents", social networking sites "are issued, and" political opponents are represented in the Brotherhood- groups. "And the opposition media", a list of sources of political rumors in Egypt from the viewpoint of the respondents, and finally that the confidence of the respondents in the pages of official institutions in the country through social media sites tends to decrease, and in their evaluation of the efforts made by official institutions in the country in the face of rumors %39.8", of the respondents saw It "needs more effort to follow up all rumors on social media and respond to them before the rum or spreads significantly".
