Abstract

This study aimed to identify the mental image formed by Jordanian youth towards Jordanian political institutions (the Jordanian National Assembly as a model), as well as to identify the positive and negative image of the Jordanian National Assembly among young people by surveying the views of a sample of Jordanian youth using the available sample that amounted to (211) single.
This study is a descriptive study in which the survey method was used, and the study came out with several results, the most important of which was that the negative image formed the largest part of the mental image of the Jordanian National Assembly among young people, the most important of which was that the political disagreement between members impeded and weakened the work within the Council, and its members were not qualified to undertake with the role assigned to them and the passivity and indolence of the members and their failure to play the legislative role assigned to them.
The results also revealed an increase in the percentage of youth who did not participate in voting in the elections, which reached (80%), which was represented by the ineffectiveness of participation, lack of confidence in such institutions, lack of integrity in the elections, and the feeling of citizens' insignificance of their electoral votes. The perceived mental image about the parliament's performance with weak arithmetic averages, the most important of which is that the parliament is not characterized by independence, and that the different political affiliations of its members affect its performance, and that there is no great benefit from the work of the parliament.
