Abstract

This study aimed at to measure the role of traditional and social media in supporting the volunteering efforts of the Egyptians audience to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic: A field study.
The study used the social capital theory. It is considered one of the descriptive studies that relied on the survey method and used the questionnaire as a tool of collecting data from snowball of volunteers sample of (Male – Female) 18-less than 55 years old totally (420) volunteers from five civil society organizations.
Among the most important results of the study is:
1. The study showed that the sample prefers to use social networks and the smart phone applications (WattsApp, Signal, and Twitter) more than traditional media in volunteering work.
2. The study results showed that the sample confident of the health information offered by the new media about the COVID-19 pandemic.
3. The study affirmed that the sample depended on the social networks & smart phone applications more than traditional media in volunteering works.
4. The sample uses the social networks and smart phone applications to know new volunteers, exchange view points about the pandemic and to cooperate with the civil society organizations to overcome COVID-19 pandemic.
