Abstract

The study aimed to research and analyze journalistic treatment of the G20 issues in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in the Saudi press. The study relied on Frame Analysis Theory in providing an explanation to address the Saudi press in shaping ideas and trends towards G20 issues in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Using the survey approach as one of the basic approaches used in descriptive research, the study aimed at clarifying the studied phenomenon in the period in which the Kingdom's presidency of the G20 was announced until it was handed over to Italy. The results of the study reached include the following:
-      The newspapers paid more attention to the issues of the human empowerment axis than the issues of the other G20 themes.
-      All the statements of His Highness the Crown Prince (may God protect him) published in the newspapers of the study sample on the issues of the G20 were directly related to the programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and the largest percentage of what was published by the sample newspapers regarding the G20 summit was not linked to the vision. The results also indicated that the writers of the sample newspapers are more aware of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 programs by linking them to the issues of the G 20 axes.
-      Newspapers have relied on reproducing press releases issued by the authorities associated with discussing the issues of the G20 or the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and publishing them without treating them as a special material.
-      The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) played a major role in its coverage of the G20 summit, and the sample newspapers relied heavily on it in reporting news, events, and statements of group officials and world leaders.
-      Newspapers have relied, in their handling of the G 20 Summit, on press news to a large extent, overlooking other editorial arts, which rely on a deep treatment based on investigation, criticism and analysis.
-      Weak use of sample newspapers and infographics in handling the G 20 Summit.
-      The results of the study showed that the public was not involved in the process of producing press materials related to the G20 issues.
