Abstract

This paper discusses the main features of minority media in Egypt by focusing on the production process, the content, and the dynamics that shape it. It aims at examining the relationship between minority media and the state, the economy, the journalistic profession, and civil society in Egypt. This paper also discusses how minorities from Bedouins, Nubians and Sinias use their media to self-represent, to define their cultural identity, to mobilize, to express their citizenship, and to produce content to communicate amongst themselves and with the surrounding community.
