The role of the international discourse of Al-Sisi president in determining and restoring the media portrayal of Egypt

Abstract


      The study aims to examine the role of the international discourse of Al-Sisi president in determining the media portrayal of Egypt nationally, regionally and internationally. Also, the study aims to investigate the role of these discourses in restoring the Egyptian image. The study used the survey method and the discourse analysis tool applying to 68 discourses. It also used the Image Restoration Theory.
The main results:
-        The interaction with the president's discourses was positive and high; permanently, there was a round of applause, and the conferences were organized to know additional information from him.
-        The discourse used many strategies to restore the Egyptian media portrayal; "reducing offensiveness of the event" came first by (49,3%), followed by the "corrective action" (38,4%), then the "denial strategy" by (12,3%).
-        There are many theses in the presidential discourse which play a great role in affecting the Egyptian media portrayal politically, economically, and socially. They assured the Egyptian role nationally, regionally and internationally.
-        The theses assured the Egyptian Arabic identity, the Egyptian responsibility of the Arab and African countries, and the effective role of Egypt in defending the regional interests in all international forums.
